Anthony Burke

An engaging and sought after host, Anthony Burke presents on all things architectural. With an endless fascination for the role of architecture and design in shaping our lives, his interests bridge across public media and academia. Anthony is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney. He is also the host/presenter for Restoration Australia, and from 2024, Grand Designs Australia and co-host of Grand Designs Transformations, all on the ABC and ABCi-view, with several new projects currently in production.

In 2012 he was co-creative director for the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, and directed the architecture symposium celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Sydney Opera House with the Danish Cultural Ministry. He has served on design excellence panels and committees, chaired the board of Object Design Centre as well as held many other roles in support of architecture and design. Anthony has curated exhibitions and symposia, regularly lectures at the Art Gallery of NSW and continues to lead architectural tours to Japan, Scandinavia, North and South America, as well as local tours around Sydney.

A graduate of Columbia University in New York (GSAPP), and UNSW, Anthony has held visiting professor positions at the Beijing Institute of Technology and Institute of Teknolgi, Bandung, Indonesia. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of California Berkeley from 2002-2007 before returning to Australia as an Associate Professor and subsequently held the position of Head of Architecture, and Associate Dean International in the faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at UTS from 2010-2020. Having lived in Stockholm, Hong Kong , New York and San Francisco, Anthony is based in his home town of Sydney.
